We know Kate Hudson from her films, but today she is performing 2 of her own songs, and a cover of Ariana Grande’s ‘We Can’t Be Friends’, for her very own Radio 2 Piano Room.

Franz Ferdinand perform an electrifying session with the BBC Concert Orchestra for Radio 2’s Piano Room Month. They are one of the most electrifying bands of the 21st century and they graced the Maida Vale studios, performing their classic track, ‘Take Me Out’, their new single ‘Night or Day’ and an amazing, unique rendition of Britney Spears’s, ‘Toxic’. These unique arrangements from Martin Williams were an effortless collaboration between the BBC Concert Orchestra and Franz Ferdinand, whose infectious energy and signature sound helped brought the parquet flooring in Maida Vale studios come alive.

Elkie Brooks, who has been one of the biggest selling female artists in the history of the British pop charts, is in Radio 2's Piano Room. She has been making music for 6 decades and is still playing all her huge hits live like Pearl's A Singer, Fool If You Think It's Over and Sunshine After The Rain. Elkie performs her classic track Don't Cry Out Loud, a new track Ain't No Love In The City and covers Rag n Bone Man with arrangements by Phil Meadows. She speaks to Vernon about her rock n' roll lifestyle back in the day, her work ethic now and what it was like working on the cabaret circuit.

Teddy Swims, with his powerful, soulful voice brings you an incredible Radio 2 Piano Room. Alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra, Teddy treats us to an effortless rendition of his track, ‘Lose Control’, his new single, ‘Guilty’ and a mesmerising cover of Nat King Cole’s, ‘That’s All”. For the 100th Radio 2 Piano Room, we welcome the peerless multi-award winning singer songwriter, who was also the driving force behind one of Britain’s most successful ever pop groups Take That. Gary is performing their massive anthem ‘Back For Good’, his new single ‘If There’s Not A Song About It’ featuring Colbie Caillat, and a cover of Sam Fender’s ‘People Watching’, all on our special Steinway piano and alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra. Gary is joined by both conductor/arranger Fiona Brice, and of course Vernon Kay, where they relive Gary and Take That’s early 90s days, the mad pop videos, his hiatus from singing, the joy of performing again, and collaborating with everyone from Delta Goodrem to Mica Paris to 10CC’s Graham Gouldman.

Rumer, one of the country’s most treasured performers is in the Radio 2 Piano Room. She first captured our imaginations 15 years ago now with her million-selling debut album ‘Seasons Of My Soul’. Since then she’s been double BRIT nominated, wowed audiences all over the world and performed for President Obama at the White House. Rumer performs Slow from her debut album released in 2010 Seasons of my Soul, Dangerous from her latest album In Session and covers Close to You by Burt Bacharach with arrangements by Cliff Masterson. Vernon speaks to Rumer about the biggest moment in her career, how music has a healing power and working with Burt Bacharach.

Carol Decker performs two T’Pau classics of ‘Heart and Soul’ and ‘China In Your Hand’, plus a cover of Teddy Swim’s ‘Lose Control’ with the BBC Concert Orchestra and conductor/arranger Cliff Masterson for the Radio 2 Piano Room.
