Play On Tabletop: 40K in 40 Minutes

Learn how to play Warhammer 40,000 through battle! We take you through a #new40k 10th edition game between Space Marines and Tyranids while explaining core concepts and guiding you through game mechanics.

What is better than one Screamer-killer? Two Screamer-killers! Nick takes 2x the Leviathan set to the battlefield versus Tak's Ultramarines. Tak was not able to paint up everything and that actually helped us get the two sides fairly equal in points with the Tyranids at 1,635 points and the Space Marines at 1,625 points.

Undying just means unending krumpin', right? Michael and his Necrons look for redemption against James and his Orks. How will these two factions look like in tenth edition?

Dave is Chaos Incarnate and may have driven Tak over the edge. To add to the mayhem it is Mubin who wrote both lists for the players and selected the mission. We have Angron on one side and Guilliman on the other.

We are very excited for the Combat Patrol style play and missions. Equally as exciting is having our first game be with Stephanie @OrionsBeltMinis who brings her beautiful Leagues of Votann and takes on Nick and his Red Rum (Turbo Dork colour) T'au. There is so much energy at the table that it could power a rail gun, or magna rail, or both.

Miniwargamer Dave forms a Chaotic alliance with Child of Chaos Tycho to face Tanya the Warmistress and Mubin. Mubin is playing Tak's Ultramarines and Guilliman while Tanya is using the studio's Lion El'Jonson and Dark Angels. Tycho brings the Death Guard and Dave is rocking an amazing World Eater's force.

Stephen Box from Vanguard Tactics is presented an interesting challenge. Using Play On Tabletop's collection he creates both the Ultramarines list he plays as well as the Adeptus Mechanicus list that Tak plays. Both lists bring the heat! Neither player got to practice with these lists and after a quick coffee and looking through the data sheets they hit the battlefield. How will the Adeptus Mechanicus fair in early 10th edition? What does a non-Tak Ultramarines list look like? What happens when a Stephen Box uses a Stevemarine? This and more in this 40k in 40m.

In this game we see a lot of Stephens. It is a great game of Stephen versus Stephen and maybe not the game you expected. Note that a full mirror game was just not possible given resource restraints and the challenge of creating a compelling game of Warhammer 40k. Lists below.

Vanguard Onslaught Tyranids lurk in the shadows, hunted by the Ultramarines. Or, are the Ultramarines the ones being hunted? 1,500 point battle between Space Marines and Tyranids. James Jones is back on the channel and he's NOT playing Orks! Little known is that he is a huge fan of Space Wolves and he jumped on the chance to play the new beautifully painted Space Wolf combat patrol we just got! Nick, ever eager to play, takes control of the Tyranids to try and get revenge on James! Note! Combat Patrol plays slightly different than regular full size 40k. Some of the data sheets and abilities have been adjusted to be more balanced for this smaller size of play.

Taking the New Space Marine Codex Detachment Stormlance Task Force for a spin with our newly painted White Scars. The speedy Space Marines chapter seemed perfect for the new Captain and Assault Intercessors with Jump pack. The mettle of these new Space Marines will be tested by the Death Guard in this 2,000 point Warhammer 40k battle.

We try the Ironstorm Spearhead with an armoured company of Ultramarines versus a Monster Mash of Tyranids. Tak test drives the Ironstorm Spearhead detachment for the first time with a list mostly comprised of dreadnoughts and tanks, including the Astraeus. Mubin has both Norns, the Emissary and Assimilator, in his Nidzilla Crusher Stampede list. Warhammer 40k in 40m 2,000 point big guns versus big claws. 9 models per force. T'au Nick takes on Special Guest @Bricky in a Warhammer 40k battle between the T'au and the Adepta Sororitas. Can the Greater Good best the Miracle of Faith? The players were great and having so much fun that we couldn't quite get this in our 40-ish minutes but it is all worth it!

Combat Patrol games are smaller, faster games of 40k with slightly tweaked data sheets to balance the gameplay between multiple factions.

In this Warhammer 40k game Mubin builds a 1,000 point list to expand on the beautifully painted Thousand Sons combat patrol we just received from Art-W Studio. To meet the psykers on the battlefield is the fanatical Black Templar looking to destroy the witch. Tak is expanding on the Black Templar Combat Patrol in this Warhammer 40k game.

A 2v2 match up where we share command points a play a custom mission from the upcoming Adepticon Team Tournament.

The oppressors will be destroyed! The Genestealer Cult have commandeered a Shadowsword and brings massive firepower down on the tyranny of the Imperium. The White Scars, reinforced by a Cerastus Knight Lancer look to put down the resistance. Grenades explode. Promethium burns. Big cannons go boom! Nick and Tak throw everything at each other in a tough mission.

The Imperium has many secrets. Some of those secrets are kept even from allies. And, in the grim dark of the 41st millennium some secrets are worth killing for. The Astra Militarum have discovered something and the Adeptus Mechanicus want to keep that knowledge for themselves. Guard Nick is back and takes on Tak's Adeptus Mechanicus on a dense city battlefield. We use Warhammer 40k tournament terrain rules in this one.
