Six families living on the edge of financial disaster need solutions, desire stability and help. They also fear the hard truth when help arrives. Can they overcome the stigma and unfair shame or will they continue to suffer in silence when they meet their financial coaches?

Parents worried about eviction from their apartment in Columbus, Ohio, a second marriage and blended family in Seattle, WA, and cancer survivor in New Orleans all share one goal. They need immediate help beating the system to turn their financial lives around. Finally help arrives when Jean Chatzky, Louis Barajas and Patrice Washington visit their homes. Is it too late?

A single mom in El Paso, TX, a young family in Baton Rouge, LA about to lose their home, and a veteran in Washington D.C. on the brink of bankruptcy need help. Opportunity Coaches Jean Chatzky, Louis Barajas, and Patrice Washington arrive just in time.

The coaches know from experience that the families need more than advice to overcome their challenges. They introduce the families to The Opportunity Finder. Jean has a heart to heart with Wes & Maegan in Columbus. The families build financial resilience by using tools provided by their Opportunity Coaches Jean Chatzky, Louis Barajas, and Patrice Washington.

The six families get to work on homework assigned by their coaches. They also use The Opportunity Finder to identify help from nonprofits in their communities.

The families meet with local nonprofits and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and not-for-profit credit unions to eliminate high interest credit card debt and predatory loans.

The families share their dreams and meet with resources in their community and continue their progress to become more financially resilient using tips provided by coaches. For some it’s harder than others.

The families share big wins with their Opportunity Coaches and their loved ones. Erika meets with a local nonprofit to learn how to build her business. Lynette, Omar and Jailyn visit the Seattle Culinary Academy. Wes & Maegan begin using a new tool called The Opportunity Coach for day-to-day guidance and support.

The Opportunity Coaches return to help our families strengthen their financial resilience and show them new tools and resources in their communities. Tanda and Donnell meet with a local nonprofit to learn about financial empowerment. Patrice meets with Erika and her mom and helps them both find new local resources. Nicole takes a courageous step on the path to financial freedom.

The families continue to meet with local nonprofits and CDFIS. Using what they learned from their Opportunity Coaches, the families now have all the tools they need to succeed on their own.

The families’ lives are all headed in the right direction. They continue to meet local nonprofits and CDFIS. By successfully following their financial plans we now see significant changes for the families. But will they reach their goals?

The families fly to Los Angeles for a meeting with The Opportunity Coaches and host Ronaldo Hardy, the families share updates on their financial journeys. Coaches ask hard questions to see if the changes will stick.
