A famous neural surgeon Anastasiya Striletska goes with an ambulance crew to a site of a car crash in which suffered one of her clinic's clients. Upon arrival, she realizes the call was fake and she is in a gang's den. Under pressure from Maksym Hrynchuk, a dangerous gangster, Anastasiya operates on a man with a gun-shot wound.

Anton, the man on which Anastasiya operated, regains consciousness and asks her for help. She tries to escape and inform the police of what happened at the pharmaceutical plant warehouse, but Maksym stops her. Soon arrives the plant owner, a famous businessman and philanthropist Mykhailo Volodenko. Anastasiya accidental witnesses a murder.

Anastasiya agrees to marry Maksym as it is her only chance to survive. Her brother Yuriy, a policeman, starts searching for her. Maksym explains to Volodenko, who is his uncle, what made him propose to Anastasiya: she is too well known, which is why they cannot afford to kill her; however, after he marries her, he can keep an eye on her all the time. Anastasiya attempts to escape from Volodenko's mansion.

Maksym's mother Olena starts preparations for the wedding, which irritates Anastasiya a lot. She meets the other members of Volodenko's big family and understands she cannot count on them. Maksym threatens her: if Anastasiya does not do as they dealt, he will kill not only her but also her brother. She tries to run away once more - this time from a bridal shop.

The police arrive in the middle of Anastasiya and Maksym's wedding ceremony. Yuriy and Vasyl want to hear the truth from Anastasiya, but she assures them she loves Maksym. Despite Volodenko's relatives realize the marriage is fake, they do nothing to help Anastasiya. After the wedding, Maksym takes her to his flat and tells her they will live there. Anastasiya is panicked: she is afraid to stay alone with him.

Mass media spread the information that Volodenko forced doctor Striletska to marry Maksym. To prove it is not true Edita, Mykhailo's assistant and lover, arranges a family dinner at a fancy restaurant where she invites journalists. In front of cameras, Anastasiya says she truly loves her husband. When Yevheniy, Anastasiya's boyfriend, learns of it, he starts searching for her to find out what is going on and why she suddenly gave up on him married another man. Maksym stops their conversation abruptly. Enraged Anastasiya revenges on him.

Anastasiya is sorry of what she did. Maksym proves to her she is not always kind and merciful as she thought of herself - it runs out it is all a matter of circumstances. After the intensive conflict they finally reconcile. Maksym takes Anastasiya to the clinic, where a patient is waiting for her. After a successful operation, Anastasiya agrees to have a dinner with Maksym. They have a sincere talk and tell each other about the dreams they had as children. This makes them a little closer. When she is back to the clinic, Anastasiya learns that Yevheniy was cheating her all this time - it turns out he is married and has a daughter.

Anastasiya is depressed after she learns about Yevheniy. Maksym suggests that they go back to Volodenko's mansion so that she feels more comfortable. She agrees but says she wants to see her friend Lidia Belova. In the evening, when they arrive at Volodenko's mansion, Anastasiya overhears a conversation: Mykhailo demands from Maksym to get rid of her, her brother Yuriy as well as Maksym's brother Vasyl, a chief police officer who is actively trying to catch and imprison Volodenko.

Anastasiya is afraid Maksym will obey Volodenko and try to kill her, Yuriy and Vasyl. However, Maksym finds another way to stop the investigation. Halya gives birth, Anastasiya helps her and agrees to keep the secret. Mykyta's ex-lover Sonya returns to the house. Anastasiya learns that Vasyl is Maksym's brother. She mistakenly suspects he covers Maksym and Mykhailo. Yuriy and Vasyl try to receive evidence against Volodenko from her, but Maksym does not let it happen.

Vasyl and Yuriy keep trying to find evidence against Volodenko. They involve Lidia and tell her to go to the mansion, sneak into his study and set up a bug there. Maksym finds the bug. Anastasiya convinces him not to tell Mykhailo. Mykhailo's old enemy emerges. Volodenko is scared as until this moment he was sure this man has long been dead.

Mykhailo tells Maksym to find Lidia Belova and bring her to him. Panicked, he tells Maksym that Lidia is the only daughter of his old enemy Petro Belov. Ten years ago, Mykhailo had a conflict with Petro, so he ordered Bohdan to kill him. Maksym finds out that Lidia is hiding at Yuriy's home. Lidia flirts with Yuriy, and he gradually falls in love with her. Petro's men attempt to kill Maksym and Anastasiya.

Maksym and Anastasiya escape from Petro's thugs, but they are still searched for. Mykhailo enforces the security in his house and brings Edita there. Olena and Edita start rivalry. Seeing how Sonya treats her son, Halya suffers a lot. On Mykhailo's order, Bohdan kidnaps Lidia. Mykhailo is sure Petro can do nothing now. However, there is another attempt on Anastasiya and Maksym.

Maksym survives. The family are grateful to Anastasiya for her saving him. She realizes she has feelings to Maksym. Vasyl and Yuriy start searching for Lidia. After a quarrel with Mykhailo, Edita leaves the mansion. Petro starts acting again. He finds Edita.

Petro kidnaps Halya to lure Maksym out of the house. Olena panics. Maksym decides to go find Halya. Anastasiya cannot let him go alone, when he is weak after the operation, and goes with him. Maksym and Anastasiya get into Petro's trap. When Mykhailo learns Maksym is in danger, he agrees to a meeting with Petro, where he offers him a deal: Lidia's life in exchange for Maksym's. Edita returns to Mykhailo but she does not tell him she had a meeting with Petro too.

Anastasiya wants to stop all the attacks and crimes. She is determined to tell the police everything she knows. Maksym allows her to do so, and so she goes. Maksym warns Mykhailo they will be arrested soon. Vasyl tells Anastasiya Maksym's story - how their father died and how Maksym repaid his murderer. Anastasiya sympathizes with Maksym and her feelings towards him become stronger. Lidia flirts with Yuriy, and he completely falls in love with her. Petro finds out Vasyl and Yuriy know of him. Yuriy is suspended from service, and there is an attack on Vasyl's home.

Vasyl is wounded. Tetiana blames Maksym for everything. Maksym spots Petro's men near the apartment building where Vasyl lives and, together with Yuriy, chases them. Anastasiya brings Tetiana and Danya to Volodenko's mansion, where Danya meets his grandmother and aunt. Petro's men manage to escape, and Yuriy is wounded. Anastasiya secretly treats her brother. She is impressed how close he and Maksym became. Petro makes Bohdan give him the information on the illegal drugs Volodenko's plant secretly manufactures. Maksym hopes to find Petro. With Mykyta's help, he gets his assistant's address. Now he is going to revenge for his sister and brother and stop Petro.

Maksym finds Petro and tries, with Anastasiya's help, to install a camera near his house. Thus he learns of Petro's relation to Kreytser. Petro calls Maksym and arranges a meeting. Anastasiya learns that Yuriy and Lidia had an affair. She is happy for her brother. Edita tells Petro the secret of Maksym's birth. Lidia manages to escape from the captivity and comes to see Petro. Maksym and Bohdan arrive for a meeting with Petro. Petro aims a gun at Maksym.

Petro is not going to kill Maksym. He simply wants to tell him the truth about Volodenko and use him to get rid of his enemy. However, everything changes drastically - Lidia remains unnoticed, but now she is determined to continue what her father started and repay for him. Mykhailo celebrates victory. Edita is disappointed. Mykyta does not want to marry Sonya. Halya and Olena are blackmailed by Sonya and Bohdan. Mykyta finds out the baby is not his son but Halya and Bohdan's. Maksym swears to Anastasiya he did not kill anyone. She does not believe him.

Maksym tells Mykhailo he wishes to quit and start a new life. Mykhailo is furious. He orders Bohdan to get rid of Anastasiya. Vasyl and Yuriy start suspecting that Petro Belov did not die ten years ago. But Lidia, using Yuriy's trust, misleads them. Maksym realizes he cannot change the past but decides start everything anew. First he decides to free Anastasiya for her own good. Bohdan finds Serhiy, a man whose father died some years ago after an operation carried out by Anastasiya. Serhiy is going to revenge on her.

Anastasiya and Maksym suffer after their breakup. Yuriy cannot see his sister's suffering and goes to talk to Maksym. Lidia plays a double game: she is going to revenge for her father's death on all the Volodenkos including Anastasiya. Using information from her, Kreytser blackmails Mykhailo that he knows of the drugs. Maksym, after Lidia and Kreytser tell him, finds out from Bohdan that Volodenko's plant produces drugs. Anastasiya is suddenly kidnapped not far from Lidia's home.

Maksym and Anastasiya wake up together. Maksym is grateful to Lidia for saving Anastasiya. He does not suspect she is connected with Petro Belov. Edita is mad she failed to get rid of Olena, so she blackmails her threatening to tell everyone about Halya and Bohdan. However, this time Olena has evidence against Edita. Mykhailo finds out the attempt on Anastasiya failed. Bohdan wants to cover up his traces by killing Serhiy. Maksym suspects that Serhiy was hired by someone. He is going to find out who did it. Maksym starts looking for Bohdan everywhere. A taxi driver who takes Bohdan to the airport suddenly turns the car and takes him in an unknown direction.

Maksym continues searching for Bohdan. He suspects that Mykhailo helped him to run away, but Mykhailo swears he has nothing to do with it. Anastasiya and Maksym spend a day together. They are happy. Yuriy proposes to Lidia. They celebrate it at a restaurant together with Anastasiya and Maksym. In the middle of the party Maksym learns from Halya that Bohdan kidnapped her baby.

Mykyta and Halya are grateful to Maksym for saving the baby. However, Maksym feels guilty for the crime he committed, though now he has Mykhailo's laptop. Maksym decides to learn all his "uncle's" secrets. In a conversation with Lidia, Anastasiya understands who Volodenko's enemy is. Her meeting with Lidia ends tragically.

Anastasiya does not believe in Maksym's innocence and decides to divorce him. After his own investigation Maksym finds out who killed Anatoliy. What will Maksym do when he knows that the man who was cheating him all his life and who killed his dearest person is his father? Can Anastasiya stay with him after all these events? The answers to all questions and the denouement are in the final episode.
