When judging WW2 weapons one aspect is often ignored namely that nowadays we usually use ammo that is of better quality than what available during the war. This of course goes the other way round as well, basically using inferior ammo and than stating that the weapon was "bad", when it was actually an ammo problem. As always context is important. What was the role of Germany in the Winter War / Russo-Finnish War (1939-1940)? Generally, it is rather absent in the portrayals, yet a closer look reveals that Germany was not as neutral. In various cases it took a rather pro-Soviet stance as well. This is related to the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, but also due to Germans concern that the Allies might get a foothold in the North. So, the question is, did the Germans ever call the Tiger II “Königstiger”? Since occasionally I get comments about the Königstiger, some people note that Germans never called it that way, whereas others ask if it shouldn’t be named Bengal Tiger, since the actual animal called Königstiger in German is a Bengal Tiger in English. Technically, Finland never joined the Axis. Yet, the Finns fought alongside the Axis against the Soviet Union from 1941-1944. In total about 1.3 million Austrians served in the Wehrmacht. Since the Wehrmacht recruited 17.3 Million men, this means about 7.5 % of the Wehrmacht soldiers were Austrians. Of course, technically during the Second World War, there was no Austria and Austrians were technically German citizen due to the "Anschluss" (1938). I have two light American military vehicles. I have all of the manuals on pdf which is great, but sometimes there are errors. Do you have access to the original manuals and are they accurate? 2:20 Sina: Dicker Max influence on Nashorn? My question is how the combat trials of Dicker Max contributed to the development of Nashorn. More precisely, why did Dicker Max was canceled after 2 prototypes while around 500 Nashorns were built. Did they learn something from Dicker Max that they fixed in Nashorn? I think of the smaller caliber(but higher velocity) gun and more powerful engine but was there something else? 3:26 Bryan: Combat Effectiveness compared to the Marders? Was actual, versus theoretical, combat effectiveness gained versus the 75mm and 76.2mm Hummels [Marders]?
