A plane is on its way to Denmark with a special cargo. In a box lies a beating heart that will give a woman at Rigshospitalet a whole new life.

Christian struggles with bleeding around the new heart. Meanwhile, Rie receives a young man in the Trauma Centre, who has had a large scaffolding fall over him. The accident requires both quick action and care.

When the helicopter lands on top of Rigshospitalet, it must go fast. But there is a lack of staff and this puts extra pressure on the employees.

Lisbeth has to play the violin for an emergency wedding. Christian has to cancel operations - and then he has to operate on a beating heart. But not everything goes as planned.

The trauma center is overflowing with patients. Rie receives a man who cannot feel his legs. Christian is on emergency duty and must be away from the family. The night is long in the operating room.

The porters are on strike, but Michael continues to work. Rie has to calm the mother of a child in the Trauma Center. Christian must adopt a completely new method.
