Climate out of control

Since science warns of the greenhouse effect, the UN is constantly negotiating new climate summits. But the amount of greenhouse gases emitted does not decrease, but increases unabated, while the forests are largely cut down, especially in the tropics. These developments make it increasingly difficult to find a solution.

The climate researchers show how dangerous a warming of two degrees Celsius and more would be for life on earth and how such a development can still be prevented. At the Paris Climate Summit in 2015, the states decided to work together to combat climate change. But little has happened since then, also because of the political turnaround in the US. Experts call for switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy and rethinking our consumption patterns. Computer models calculate the consequences of global warming of two degrees Celsius and more. They show fatal consequences for agriculture, especially in developing countries. But also coastal regions are seriously endangered. In order to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius - as decided at the Paris Climate Summit - it is no longer enough to just limit emissions. We also have to get as much CO2 out of the air as possible. Forests can help. Examples from business and society also show how everyone can help in the fight against climate change.
