Ecclesbourne Valley Railway - Beyond the Tracks

The very first episode of our Behind the Scenes documentary series 'Beyond the Tracks'. It's early 2022 and the team are preparing for the start of the new season. Take a look at the set up of the new station bar The Apollo and an examination is taking place on the Derbyshire Countryman kitchen car.

In this episode of our behind the scenes documentary, preparations are well under way for the upcoming Spring Diesel Gala, Standard Tank 80080 returns to the railway from a winter visit to another railway and the opening day of the 2022 finally arrives!

It is the day of the Deltic arriving and anticipation is high as this magnificant machine is carefully manoeuvered through the winding roads of Wirksworth. We take a look at the Easter bunny as he hops his way between Wirksworth and Duffield before the Spring Diesel Gala finally arrives. Follow the debut of 'Royal Highland Fusilier' at the EVR during the event and the bacon is flying out the doors.

In this episode we take a brief look at the Deltic Preservation Society Members Day and there is a party atmosphere as we celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee! Two beautiful British locomotives operate the trains and there are various family activities at Wirksworth Station.

It is hotting up as summer arrives! We take a look at the Mixed Traction Gala in the middle of June with a combination of steam and diesel locomotives operating. The Bus Rally revvs into town on Sunday 3rd July and we take a look at some of the beautiful vehicles which visit and chat to some of the drivers!

The summer season is in full swing! In this episode we follow a day in the life of new Guard George, plus take a look at the Summer Diesel Gala.

In this episode we have A Taste of Faulty Towers as the West End comes to the tracks, we take a look at a momentus day in the progress of the Derby Lightweight DMU restoration project and local television historian Richard Felix helps us celebrate Derbyshire Day.

It has been a busy autumn for the railway. In this episode we take a look at the popular Wirksworth Wizarding Day, spend some time looking at the wonderful layouts on display at the annual Wirksworth Model Railway Exhibition and things get spooky as The Ghost Train Through the Countryside sets off into the night. We also take a special look at the Routes of Remembrance steam special ran in conjunction with East Midlands Railway.

Festivities have come to the tracks so join us as we take a look at just some of the work which takes place to make memories as The Train Through Christmas Countryside 2022 rolls in to Wirksworth!
