It's been six years since that summer adventure when Taichi Yagami and the rest of the DigiDestined crossed over to the Digital World. And nearly three years have passed since the final battle between Hikari Yagami's group and BelialVamdemon. As the peaceful days passed by, at some point the gate to the Digital World closed. Not even the DigiDestined know what caused this, and time alone continues to pass.

The DigiDestined go to a nearby hot springs theme park and everyone has a good time, but Joe doesn't show up because he wants to study for his exams. Another infected Digimon, Ogremon, attacks Odaiba. Gomamon runs away from home while Mimi faces problems with the other DigiDestined and her classmates because of her selfish ideas. Would Joe accept his responsibilities as a DigiDestined before it's too late?

Meicoomon rampages after witnessing Meiko Mochizuki being injured by the man bearing Gennai's likeness. "It would have been better if you hadn't been born..." Meicoomon disappears into the Real World, which has since become distorted. Possessing overwhelming power, she's the key to the world's destruction - Hackmon appears before Daigo Nishijima and Professor Mochizuki, and reveals a shocking truth: Homeostasis is trying to maintain harmony but considers Meicoomon's power to be an existential threat to both worlds. Other Digimon begin appearing through the Distortion. The DigiDestined return to the Real World alienated by the abnormal state of the Digital World. Persecuted by the people, the DigiDestined and their partners are isolated and desperately looking for a way forward. It's 2010, over ten years since the summer when Taichi met Agumon and the others. Existence of the Digimon has gradually been acknowledged worldwide. During all this, certain incidents begin to occur to DigiDestined around the world, caused by a Digimon called Eosmon. But during the battle with Eosmon, Taichi's group finds out a shocking truth: When a DigiDestined becomes an adult, his or her partner Digimon will cease to exist... The threat posed by Eosmon gradually spreads to affect Taichi's friends as well. He can't save his friends if he won't fight, but fighting will mean he has to say goodbye to his partner that much sooner. Will he fight, even if it means losing the one most dear to him?
