BVB Stories - Who We Are

The first episode on the topic of "Heimatliebe & Heimatlos" with the protagonists Marco Reus and Michael Zorc will be published exclusively by DAZN next Monday. Reus and Zorc stand in the public eye symbolically for the BVB, were born in Dortmund and trained with the Black and Yellow. Reus is also committed to his homeland beside the pitch. Michael Zorc has been with BVB for 42 years. Both are or were captains of the Borussia team. How important is home, and what do you miss when you're constantly on the road, far away from your family, in a more than ever tight schedule. Life in the soccer business from two different perspectives.

The second episode shows how Mahmoud Dahoud and Julian Brandt fight for playing time and a place in the starting eleven in a strong squad. "It's not like I sit in the meeting and say, 'Great, I'm not playing again'. Of course that annoys me. It's normal, it's the same with every player," says midfielder Julian Brandt, who also reveals: "I'm tempted to do things on the pitch that others would take the safe way out of. I do not like that." Borussia Dortmund's sports psychologist Philipp Laux also has his say: "You sometimes forget that the boys are also people - with body and soul, with heart - not the cool ones who say: 'I don't care what happens around me, I always call my performance off'". A lot is also about people. It is important for the players to accept that soccer is a mistake. "It takes a radical acceptance that mistakes are part of this business. It's just a question of how to deal with the mistake.'"

At a very young age, Gio Reyna and Youssoufa Moukoko left home for the dream of professional soccer. The two talk about this in episode 3.

Erling Haaland und Emre Can: Seit einem Jahr spielen die beiden auf den ersten Blick so ungleichen Spieler für den BVB. Der eine schießt Tore am Fließband, der andere stabilisiert Mittelfeld und Abwehr. Woher schöpfen sie die Kraft, Woche für Woche diesen unbändigen Willen vorzuleben – auch, wenn es mal Misserfolg gibt? Wie profitieren beide Spieler vom BVB hinsichtlich ihrer Weiterentwicklung und auf ihrem Karriereweg?

Im Januar steht das Gedenken an die Gräueltaten des Nazis im Fokus. Der BVB leistet Erinnerungsarbeit und will diese auch für kommende Generationen bewahren. Die Episode spielt u.a. im ehemaligen Konzentrationslager Auschwitz in Polen. Die Holocaust-Überlebende Eva Szepesi und andere Persönlichkeiten kommen zu Wort, um an die Wichtigkeit des Erinnerns und die soziale Verantwortung auch in der Welt des Fußballs zu appellieren.

'Echte Liebe' - nur ein Markenclaim oder mehr? Mats Hummels spricht über alte und neue Zeiten in Dortmund, Norbert Dickel trifft Dedé und Jürgen Klopp erinnert sich an eine nahezu perfekte Meistermannschaft. Dazu erzählt das ehemalige Talent Dario Scuderi seine unfassbare Geschichte, die ihn für immer mit dem BVB verbinden wird.

Wieder zurück zu Moukoko, Reyna – und Jude Bellingham. Wir knüpfen an die Episode aus dem November an und schauen auf die Entwicklung der drei Supertalente in einer sportlich schwierigen Phase des BVB in der Bundesliga. Darüberhinaus öffnet Jude Bellingham uns die Türen und zeigt, wie er seit seinem Wechsel im vergangenen Sommer in Dortmund lebt.

Profis und Profile: Ohne Instagram, Facebook und Co. ist auch der Fußball nicht mehr denkbar. Fans können ihren Idolen vermeintlich näher sein als früher. Doch der direkte Austausch zwischen Spielern und Fans hat auch seine Schattenseiten. U.a. Roman Bürki zeigt, dass anonyme Drohungen und Beleidigungen nun ebenfalls zum Alltag gehören.

Lukas Piszczek und Marcel Schmelzer sind seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt beim BVB. Zwei Meisterschaften und drei Pokalsieger später neigt sich ihre Ära einem Ende zu. U.a. Jürgen Klopp und Neven Subotic gratulieren den beiden zu ihren Karrieren, die nicht immer geradlinig verlaufen sind.

Alles schien verloren, das Saisonziel verfehlt. Am 27. Spieltag verlor der BVB gegen den direkten Konkurrenten um die Qualifikation zur Champions League, Eintracht Frankfurt, mit 1:2.
