Anna Karenina

Senior army doctor, Sergei Kareni, meets Count Vronsky and hears his side of the story of meeting his mother, Anna Karenina.

Count Vronsky tells the tale of how he slowly fell in love with Anna while Anna had to battle the rumours and scandals. He also talks about Anna's experience of her marriage to Karenin.

As the rumours become stronger, Anna is unable to hide her love and passion for Vronsky. Vronsky wants to legitimise the relationship but Karenin refuses to divorce her to protect his reputation.

Karenin finds Vronsky at his house and is enraged. Anna, pregnant with Vronsky's child, falls sick. Believing to be close to death, she asks for Karenin's forgiveness. Karenin forgives Anna and Vronsky. Vronsky, heartbroken about Anna, choses to shoot himself.

Anna recovers from her sickness and tries to stay loyal to her marriage. However, unable to bear her separation from Vronsky, is torn. Stiva discusses divorce prospects with Karenin. Anna finally leaves Karenin for Vronsky and goes away with him.

Anna comes back to visit her son, Sergei. Vronsky begins to arrange for their life financially. Anna goes to the opera to be in society but is scorned by all women. Dejected, they move to the country.

Dolly comes to visit Anna and learns about Anna's conflict with Vronsky. Anna struggles to leave her love for her son. Vronsky tries to busy himself in local duties but Anna is unable to bear his absence. They begin to have frequent arguments.

Vronsky recounts the last days with Anna and the bitterness, as the war heightens and forces Sergei and others to evacuate the medical camp.
