Robert and Caroline defend a mother accused of beating her child. From a particularly disadvantages background the young woman has retreated behind a wall of silence. Preparing her client's defence, Caroline discovers the horrendous tragedy behind an already sordid affair. Antoine is finding it difficult to come to terms with Michèle's pregnancy and suggests she doesn't keep the baby.

For a young woman suffering from a serious psychological illness, having cosmetic surgery has developed into a habit. Disfigured and depressed, she has become incapable of looking after her 4 year-old daughter. Confronted with the doctors' nonchalant attitude, the young woman's mother vandalises their clinic. Michèle finally decides to have an abortion. But as a nurse prepares her for the operation, a group of anti-abortion activists break in...

Caroline pleads her first case in the assize courts. At the tribunal, she meets a 17 year-old teenager wanting to sue her biological father. Born as the result of a rape, she is demanding damages and interest. Laurent and Gladys take on the case of a forged will. Michèle decides to keep her baby.

Laurent is appointed to defend a woman in her fifties, accused of killing her husbands and lovers. With Gladys responsible for the loss of a major client, Audrey brings Barbara, an anorexic model seeking to sue her employer.

Robert is working on Barbara's defence; his client is accusing her model agency of pushing young women into prostitution. Michèle defends a homosexual politician outed against his will. Caroline tries to reconcile a couple and their daughter who wants to sue them for lack of food aid.

Robert thought he had managed to catch the model agency out, but the lawyer representing it had seen through his plan and Robert ends up being the one in a delicate position. The pretty model he had spent the night with turned out to be underage, only fifteen and a half. Accused of statutory rape, his career is on the line.

Gladys is once again defending the "Ogress", working all-hours to free her terrible client despite everyone agreeing on her guilt. She finally manages to dig up a tiny technical flaw in the case, that will effectively enable her to be freed. Robert defends the son of a friend.

Gladys is worried because her father, condemned for rape and domestic violence, will soon be released from prison. As Caroline defends a young woman of good family, suspected of helping a burglar to get away, Laurent is appointed to defend a rapper accused of stabbing one of his friends.

Michèle is appointed to defend Samir, a man accused of having held up a supermarket. A likeable chap, Samir's attitude surprises Michèle. She ends up realising that he is totally innocent of the charges against him. But in that case, why did he confess to a robbery he didn't commit?

Gladys learns that the prisoner her father had fought with is one of her clients, a redoubtable gangster who she's representing. Robert is appointed to defend a down-and-out accused of assaulting and murdering a woman in the depths of the forest.

Caroline is appointed to defend a woman who says she was forced into marriage. Michèle takes on a rather special case: her client is convinced that he is in communication with aliens and physically attacks anyone who says he isn't.

Nadia joins the Zelder law firm. Together she and Laurent are appointed to defend three teenagers suspected of having killed a man living on their housing estate. The defendants are both violent and rebellious, but would they really have gone as far as murder?
