Young Euro Classic

A veritable hotbed of talent, the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy features three works from the orchestral repertoire conducted by Sebastian Weigle: Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 ‘Classical’, Schumann's Cello Concerto and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 ‘Italian’.

For a quarter of a century, the Young Euro Classic Festival has provided a springboard for young instrumentalists from the 27 member states of the European Union to play in the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO). This year's eclectic programme is sure to delight audiences at Berlin's Konzerthaus.

Conducted by Eliel Ferreira, the Goiás Youth Symphony Orchestra, assisted by violinist Guido Sant'Anna, makes a foray into Argentina while celebrating Brazilian classical music.

For this concert, the Almaty University of the Arts orchestra combine Kazakh melodies played on the dombra, a two-stringed lute, with works from the European Romantic and Classical repertoire performed by pianist Karina Izmailova under the baton of Yerbolat Akhmedyarov.

To close the 25th season of Young Euro Classic, the South African orchestra MIAGI (Music Is A Great Investment) explores the influence of African music around the world and thrills the audience at Berlin's Konzerthaus.
