Circe Island teacher Ms Selbys uses the arrival of a mysterious stranger to ignite the children's imagination for a creative writing exercise. The man lands on the island and sends the kid's imaginations running wild.

Kelvin's plans to set Babe on her way to stardom as a rock singer, and Hermes' plans to impress Ms Selby, both come apart when the new girl, Lou Docherty, demonstrates her talent for scientific experiments.

Julie and Gavin are appalled to discover that a big corporation is to sponsor a bicycle race - a race they believe will threaten Circe Island's wildlife. Hermes takes on Gavin in a nail-biting match race.

The children use the story of Robin Hood and his Merry Men as the model for a school film assignment. Ralph makes a dashing Robin while Julie makes a strong and demanding Marion.

Rosalind Defoe has plans to build a golf course on Circe Island. Kelvin is her biggest supporter but Julie and her helpers thwart the plans when their investigations reveal the site has a sacred place in Aboriginal history.

When Ms Selby sprains her ankle, the children discover to their horror that Hermes is to take over as teacher. Lou uses the arrival of her little cousin Amy to trick Hermes into believing that she can make clones of people.

Ralph's great expectations on being made a monitor at his private school and his desire to see the launch of the replica of Captain Cook's Endeavour lead him into serious problems.

A prince and princess choose Circe Island for a secret holiday, giving Kelvin the perfect opportunity to make money, mayhem, and princess doppelgangers.

A wave of dirty tricks by Kelvin and Lou threatens Ms Selby's plan to teach the children the value of democracy through the election of a student representative to the Parents and Citizens Committee.

Lou and Geraldine find a skeleton in a trunk at Jake's cottage. Hermes steals it, thinking it's the remains of his long-lost uncle. The kids save his pride, but his gratitude is short-lived when Kelvin goes one step too far.
