Foundations Restored: A Catholic Perspective on Origins

In the world and in the Catholic community today, there are two competing frameworks within which to study the origins of man, the animal kinds, the Earth, and the universe. The two frameworks are the Naturalistic, Uniformitarian Framework and the Supernatural, Creation-Providence Framework. Episode One introduces the two frameworks and explains why the divinely-revealed Supernatural Framework is superior to the Naturalistic Framework and why it is also a fundamental element ofthe Holy Catholic Faith.

Episode Two of “Foundations Restored” explains how the divinely revealed Supernatural CreationProvidence Framework for explaining the origins of man and the universe faded from Catholic memory not through any advances in scientific knowledge but through the introduction of a false naturalistic uniformitarian philosophy promoted by Rene’ Descartes and the so-called “Enlightenment” philosophers.

Episode 3 Part 1: The Genesis account of creation and the early history of mankind forms the firm foundation of the Catholic Faith. These truths are as integral to the Gospel as the moral perfection of Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Resurrection. Indeed, these truths are even more fundamental, because without the doctrine of a very good creation marred by sin, the very notion of mankind’s need for a Redeemer involving the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ could be called into question.

Episode 3 Part 2: Was St. Augustine a theistic evolutionist who rejected the literal historical truth of the first eleven chapters of the book of Genesis? Episode Three, Part II, shows that St. Augustine firmly upheld the literal historical truth of every word in Genesis 1-11, including the fiat creation of all things at the beginning of time. It demonstrates that St. Augustine’s reliance on a faulty Latin translation of Genesis led him to propose a singular interpretation of the meaning of “day” not to abandon but to uphold the literal historical truth of the text of the first chapters of Genesis.

Episode 4: What is the authoritative teaching of the Catholic Church on Creation? Episode Four demonstrates that the Magisterium, or teaching authority, of the Catholic Church has consistently taught that God created all things for mankind at the beginning of time, less than ten thousand years ago, by fiat creation; and that human death, deformity and disease were not part of God’s original creation but are the result of the Original Sin of Adam and the subsequent sins of mankind.

Episode 5: What is an “icon of evolution”? An “icon of evolution” is an image that is said to be a powerful piece of evidence for the microbe-to-man evolutionary hypothesis; biology textbooks typically contain up to a dozen or so icons that are said to be “proofs” of evolution, but all are refuted in the scientific literature, as demonstrated by this episode of “Foundations Restored.”

Episode 6 Part 1: What is the evolutionary mechanism that allegedly changed a one-celled organism into a human body over hundreds of millions of years? In this episode, experts will examine the claim that genetic mutations and natural selection over millions of years can produce new organs and functions and transform one kind of organism into an entirely different kind of organism. This examination will demonstrate that genetic mutations destroy genetic information and that the entire biosphere is characterized by devolution, not evolution.

Episode 6 Part 2: According to the “molecules-to-man" evolution hypothesis, life evolved from non-life through a natural process of chemical evolution. However, this episode demonstrates that even the “simplest” life requires a large amount of coded information and machinery for replicating that information. This machinery can only be produced by comparable machinery and there is no evidence that anything like that machinery has ever arisen spontaneously, piece by piece, through random chemical interactions.

In a roundabout way, they are thus in agreement with the Catholic Doctrine of Creation: It is not possible to explain the origin of the universe by observed natural processes! Thus, it is perfectly logical to believe the testimony of Moses in the sacred history of Genesis when He tells us that God brought forth the heavens and the Earth, and all of the different kinds of creatures, supernaturally, during the six days of Creation.

Episode 9: Doesn’t the fossil record prove that all of the different kinds of living things evolved through the same kinds of natural processes that are going on now over hundreds of millions of years? In this episode, experts will show that the fossil record provides no support for molecules-to-man evolution but provides overwhelming evidence for a Global Flood.

Episode 10: Hasn’t radiometric dating proven that the Earth is billions of years old? In this episode experts will show that the evidence from radiometric dating harmonizes perfectly with the chronology derived from the sacred history of Genesis, as it was understood in the Catholic Church from the time of the Apostles.

Episode 11: What does evolution have to do with global conflict and the anti-culture of death? This episode of “Foundations Restored” exposes the roots of global war, genocide and the anti-culture of death in the acceptance of molecules-to-man evolution as a “scientific” explanation for the origins of man and the universe.
