On February 17, 2014, fourteen-year-old Breck Bednar was lured to his death by Lewis Daynes. Daynes, aged 18, had been grooming Breck over the internet for several months after the two of them met through an on-line gaming community. Breck told his parents he was staying with a friend near his home in Caterham, Surrey, but instead went to Daynes’ flat in Grays, Essex. Once there, Daynes used duct tape to bind his young victim’s wrists and ankles before slashing his throat in a sadistic attack.

Former Detective Superintendent David Swindle and psychologist Emma Kenny examine the motives behind this disturbing murder and look at how Daynes managed to gain Breck’s trust.
