A History of The Titanic in 30 Pieces

When Christopher Carnaghan was 11 he started a school project on the Titanic at Knockbreda Primary in Belfast. He had been told by his parents that his great-grandfather James had worked on the ship as a cabinet maker and that his toolbox was still in his granny’s house.

When Priscilla Alexander’s family moved house when she was 15 she found a strange looking piece of metal in a drawer. It was small enough to fit into the palm of her hand and was engraved with thistles and shamrocks. She asked her father what it was and he told her it was a ‘blai’ from the Titanic and had belonged to her grandfather, Charles Alexander who had been a riveter on the ship.
