God of War won three awards, including for game of the year, while Red Dead Redemption 2 won the most overall awards with four. It was live streamed on over 40 platforms worldwide, with 26 million viewers in total. In addition to the awards, several new games were revealed during the event.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was awarded Game of the Year, while Disco Elysium received the most awards in total with four. In addition to the awards, several new games were revealed during the event. The show also featured musical performances from Green Day, Grimes, and Chvrches.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will not be held to a live audience as with previous shows and will instead be hosted virtually by Geoff Keighley on December 10, 2020. The Last of Us Part II received the most nominations with 11.
