The 8,000 square kilometers of the Community are a relatively small extension for the great amount of landscapes, contrasts and nuances that it gathers. In the first chapter, the Sierra de Guadarrama, with the massif of Peñalara -the roof of Madrid-, the Bola del Mundo and Cuerda Larga. Under the snowy mountains, the valley of Lozoya, El Paular, Rascafría and Pinilla. We ascend again to Navafría, we fly over the Lozoya river and its reservoirs, and after Riosequillo we reach Buitrago. In the northern valleys are located the "cubetas" that supply drinking water to Madrid, considered the best in Europe. In the reservoirs themselves it is common to find places to practice water sports. Possibly that of El Atazar is the most spectacular, with 115 meters of height in its main dam. The trip continues towards La Puebla de la Sierra and La Hiruela, two of the most isolated villages of the Community, embedded in the valley floor.

We travel along the course of the Guadarrama River and its surroundings. We start the trip from the spectacular Bola del Mundo and the Navacerrada pass. Siete Picos and the Fuenfría pass are very popular with hikers. Downwards, along the Roman road where in Roman times crossed from beggars to kings, we reach Cercedilla and the Navacerrada reservoir. We continue through Manzanares el Real and the imposing Mendoza castle, the Santillana reservoir and the rocky wonders of La Pedriza, a colossal granite mass that was once a refuge for bandits. Miraflores leads us through the old Segovian royal cattle track to Bustarviejo and the wide pastures where wild cattle graze. A place where they have a passion for bullfighting is Colmenar Viejo, where we are heading.
Our tour starts in Zarzalejo, at the foot of Las Machotas. The Cruz Verde pass receives a multitude of motorcycles at its top, a traditional meeting place to get to know the area. Then,

Our tour starts in Zarzalejo, at the foot of Las Machotas. The Cruz Verde pass receives a multitude of motorcycles at its top, a traditional meeting place to get to know the area. Then, Santa María de la Alameda and the neighborhood of Las Herreras, where the Cofio River flows... and also the railroad, which has connected El Escorial and Ávila for more than 140 years. Robledo de Chavela and its great Gothic church is our next destination, and a little further south, the hill of La Almenara. Valdemaqueda and its pine forests lead us to the Alberche River, which opens into the reservoir of San Juan, the only one in the Community where bathing and the practice of all water sports is authorized. San Martín de Valdeiglesias greets the Sierra de Gredos, and there we can see the famous bulls of Guisando.
