Wilderness Men

The first of three docu-dramas following in the footsteps of history's great explorers, telling the story of Meriwether Lewis and William Clarke, the first white men to cross America. In search of a trade route, the two Army officers embarked on an expedition fraught with danger. It took them almost three years to complete the 8,000 mile journey, during which time they frequently came up against the hostile forces of nature.

Docu-drama charting the discoveries of Prussian explorer Alexander von Humboldt, who returned from South America in 1804 to be acclaimed as the greatest naturalist in the world, making Napoleon envious of his celebrity, though his reputation was soon to be eclipsed by the radical theories of his protege Charles Darwin. Christopher Eccleston stars.
