Waiting for the Whistle

The only things Wayne cares about are that Chelsea wins at the football, how much beer there is in the fridge, and his son's viewing habits. When Wayne's mates arrive to watch a match news is heard that a local policeman has been killed. The party atmosphere changes to something more sinister.

It's April 1974 and Manchester United are facing the prospect of relegation. Anthony never misses a match and it's the crucial last match of the season. Anthony's wife, Jenny, is pregnant but the baby is not due for another couple of weeks. At least, that's what they think.

Set in 1990 on an Air Force base in the mid-Atlantic. Billy is desperate to listen to his team Middlesborough, play Newcastle United. But Billy's quest for diversion masks an unspoken trauma in his past which he is forced to confront.
