A lot of people dismiss Brett Cooper as a female Ben Shapiro, and while there's a tiny bit of truth in that, I think there's a larger story here about how these right wing media figures take shape, and what it says about our desire for authenticity. This video is really just a brief exploration of the idea, and some reflecting on how operating in this YouTube space incentivizes the performance of authenticity for financial gain. Something sadly not unique to being a political talking head.

Although it was never a ratings hit, NewsRadio grew a very loyal fanbase over the years, and provided a fresh take of the workplace sitcom in the 90s. This video looks at its origin, evolution, and legacy on the TV landscape. And how it helped launch several careers, while unfortunately also marking the end of one.

Adam Carolla's Mr. Birchum character has been around for thirty years. While many of his jokes have stayed the same, the character itself is being presented very differently in his animated series. This video takes a look at the history of Mr. Birchum to contextualize him in the present.

Veep is one of those critically acclaimed sitcoms that didn't capture the giant audiences of more mainstream network classics. But it did develop a strong following throughout its seven year run, and delivered a very cynical look at the world of electoral politics.

The story of an immigrant gang taking over several apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado should have seemed far fetched on its face. But rather than treating the story with some skepticism, The Young Turks repeated the narrative while missing crucial context that would reveal the whole thing to be a bogus narrative designed to distract everyone from a negligent property owner.

I don't think I've met a single person who ha called themselves a fan of Piers Morgan. Somehow he keeps finding work and attracting an audience. He has this ability to create a spectacle regardless of any actual public value there might be in his work. Which is kind of a skill, I guess. And obviously it's working pretty good on YouTube.
