Good old times: Elvira Iseli tells the story of her grandmother Hyazintha's turbulent life in her inimitable style. As a factory worker, she turned the company upside down and drove the factory owner to white heat with her rebellious behaviour. Consequently, she was also active in the labour movement and had a few skirmishes with the police. She later emigrated to America and achieved some fame in Hollywood, where she appeared alongside other film greats in various silent films. Elvira Iseli's mother also appears in this episode, and the audience learns why Elvira is a child of rock ‘n’ roll.

In this episode of ‘Total Birgit’, Elvira Iseli enters politics. She founds the PGM, the ‘Party for Common Sense’, because she believes that this has not yet been represented in politics. Together with Mrs Schruppatelli, she tours Switzerland in a camper van and tries to win people over to her cause. Although this American-style political campaign is unusual by local standards, it is very successful.

What a bargain! Elvira Iseli buys a veritable steam locomotive, a real gem, for just one Swiss franc. But what she didn't think of: The iron monster also comes at a cost. In order to pay for the locomotive's upkeep, she has to come up with something quickly - as she has done so often before. Once again, Mrs Iseli is optimistic and somewhat immodest: She founds the SIB, the ‘Swiss Iseli Railways’. The idea was to offer nostalgic trips on a disused railway line with the company's own steam train and thus raise the necessary capital. However, this plan has its pitfalls. Out of necessity, Elvira Iseli wants to drive the locomotive herself and trains to become an engine driver. And the other staff also have their work cut out for them: will Mrs Schruppatelli work out as a cook in the buffet car? And how will Mrs Hugi-Webemann do as a conductor? The position of station manager has also been bravely filled by Granny Pound. An adventure with an uncertain outcome.

Grandad Balzli is literally out on the street. He was thrown out of his flat because he could no longer pay the rent after the renovation. Luckily, Mrs Iseli happens to be passing by. She is actually only on a trip, but she can accompany the pensioner to the retirement home. However, it turns out that Mr Balzli is only on a waiting list. What now? The inventive Mrs Iseli has a few original ideas on how to help the poor chap. She tries to accommodate him as an ‘asylum seeker’ in a home, then as a ‘patient’ in hospital. Or why not adopt him despite his advanced age? All attempts fail, and now Mrs Iseli and Mrs Schruppatelli are really challenged.
