The Secret Life of 4, 5 and 6 Year Olds

The award-winning documentary returns with an all-new cast of children, who are getting to grips with the classroom of the future. The programme aims to find out how tablets, robots and other gadgets affect how they play and what modern technology is doing to the brains and bodies of these digital natives. Gadget-obsessed Arthur gets the opportunity to meet a cutting-edge robot, while Iris, Na'Shae and Kiera are each given their own tablet to use. Will it have an impact on the girls' friendship?

The fly-on-the-playroom wall documentary focuses on relationships, revealing how the four-year-olds form friendships, rivalries and romances with each other. Arthur and Iris decide to be boyfriend and girlfriend - only for Frankie to also show an interest in Iris. Best friends Na'Shae and Penny fall out over a hair bobble, and a five-metre climbing wall arrives at the nursery. Is anyone brave enough to make it all the way to the top?

The award-winning documentary moves on to a new, older group as the nursery opens its doors to an international class of children from across Britain and around the world. Harlo has travelled from Los Angeles but what do the others make of his American ways - in particular his love of guns? Reilly, whose mother is from South America, quickly develops a crush on Harlo. But will her feelings be reciprocated? Meanwhile, Syrian refugee Omar has a tough time making friends in the playground, and soon the others gang up on him.

The scientists explore how the children are affected by experiences of success and failure. There are tears in the classroom when Vinnie loses a game, but how do the rest of the children react to his behaviour? The friends discuss their heroes, prompting Samuel to share memories of his father, who has recently died. And when a seven-foot robot arrives in the garden, the youngsters have a challenge trying to work out how to switch it on.
