The Dog House

In the first episode, a terrified terrier known as Tiny arrives after his owner of five years is taken into care, while child-friendly Daisy, a Cairn terrier, is the only one of Wood Green's charges deemed gentle enough for the Kerry family from Peterborough.

A two-year-old Pomeranian called Bear arrives at the centre, rescued from a life spent caged on a puppy farm. Can Bear learn to trust again and win the hearts of a family looking for a dog? Meanwhile, Knobby the Chihuahua puppy tries to charm his way into the affections and home of couple Alex and Kier.

A Liverpool family face a difficult decision choosing which one of a litter of 10 German shepherd puppies to take home with them. The Wood Green staff also hope a Staffordshire bull terrier, brought in by social services after an incident in its previous home, will be able to find a more understanding owner, and a Yorkshire terrier with a big attitude tries to win over a couple.

Excitable French bulldog Buddy arrives at the centre. His owners have tried selling him seven times but every time he has been rejected. Can the staff finally find him a forever home? An eight-year-old girl who always wanted a small dog has her mind changed when she sees stray labrador Leah, and nervous collie Kimmie needs another dog to keep her company.

Curious four-month-old terrier puppies Bobo and Lenny start scouting out their new surroundings at the centre. The brother and sister are completely different in looks and personality, but both need a forever home. Meanwhile, the staff bring together 82-year-old Alan and lhasa apso Ruby, both of whom are looking for comfort after losing a loved one.

Nervous young labrador Loki arrives at the centre, and soon meets seasoned dog owner Sharron, a Royal Navy nurse. But will a recent injury prevent her from taking him in? Small terrier Midnight is also looking for a forever home, although when he is introduced to a couple dealing with the pain of not being able to have children, he only has eyes for one of them.

Poodle cross Wally is struggling to find a forever home, having spent a year in the centre during which time he has had four unsuccessful attempts. But the staff remain confident someone will come along who is able to handle his tricky behaviour. Meanwhile, bichon frise Bruce is looking for a quiet home and a comfy lap. Will he find that with Janet from Sheffield, who wants a well-behaved dog to keep her company after the death of her husband?

Collie cross puppy Joey is a popular dog around the kennels, and has been a reliable buddy for the anxious dogs - but will he prove the same support to Holly, Adam and their son Oscar? Toy poodle Gizmo tries to overcome his social anxieties to win the hearts of Fiona and Maisie, a mother and daughter coming to terms with their future separation, and a lurcher with a broken tail requires lots of care - and with any luck, a forever home.
