While looking for mushrooms, Hanns and the Countess come across the badly decomposed corpse of a strangled woman. Her face is covered with a Venetian mask. At first, the investigators suspect that it is Johanna Zirlinger, who has been absent for two weeks, but it soon turns out that it is Christine Russek. However, both women were friends – and both were wealthy. While Johanna Zirlinger is still unable to be found, not only her husband, but also the pharmacist Eduard Fally and the murderer Walter Posch, who has only recently been released from prison, come under suspicion. But before the SOKO can deepen its investigation, Countess Schönberg also disappears without a trace.
