BBC Radio 2 Piano Room

Joy Crookes and Emeli Sandé present a star-studded line-up of musicians and singers performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra in the Radio 2 Piano Room. Every artist gathers around the piano at BBC Maida Vale studios to perform a stellar array of songs, but with brand new and unique musical arrangements. Catch performances from Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie, Stereophonics, Joy Crookes, Will Young, Simple Minds, Natalie Imbruglia, Jamie Cullum, Emeli Sandé, Jack Savoretti, Ella Henderson, Clean Bandit, Tom Odell with Rae Morris, and David Gray. The Radio 2 Piano Room is part of the biggest month long celebration of live music in over a decade from BBC Radio 2, with artists performing on Ken Bruce’s mid morning show on Radio 2, BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer.

The Radio 2 Piano Room opens its doors again to the world’s biggest artists. A glittering cast of performers are invited to BBC Maida Vale Studios to record piano versions of their best-loved hits and pay homage to their favourite records with spell-binding cover versions, all backed by BBC Concert Orchestra. A mainstay on Ken Bruce’s Radio 2 mid-morning show, it now comes to BBC Two. Expect classic tracks from the likes of Craig David, Sigrid, Paolo Nutini and Michael Bublé, plus breathtaking cover versions including Sam Smith performing Des’ree, Olly Murs honouring Coldplay, and Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott bringing us a George Ezra hit.

The Radio 2 Piano Room is where some of music's biggest names are united with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the famous Maida Vale Studios in London. Each Piano Room artist performs a cover of their choice, and in this programme, we are sharing a selection of those spellbinding performances. This collection of cover songs spans some of pop's greatest hits, including Jessie Ware performing her own powerful version of Cher's 1998 song Believe, rap superstar Stormzy with his tender rendition of Oleta Adams's 1991 soul classic Get Here, P!nk with her heartfelt cover of the late, great Sinéad O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U and Coldplay delivering a mesmerising performance of The Proclaimers' emotive anthem Sunshine on Leith - and many more, offering a unique compilation that invites you to fall for these pop classics all over again.
