On the Hunt

Janis heads deep into Montana's backcountry with Clay Newcomb in search of a black bear. Clay brings his mules across the country to get them deep into the mountains, which leads to an early sighting and an opportunity at Janis's first ever bear. Presented by onX Maps.

Janis heads to his family's place in search of spring gobblers with his good friend and hunting mentor Jimmy Miller. The warmer temperatures make calling in turkeys difficult, but Janis and Jimmy adjust their strategy and are able to get a couple of Jakes and Toms back to the cooler.

On this episode, Janis and his blue tick coonhound, Mingus, head to Northeastern Washington on a mountain lion hazing study. An alarming increase of lion depredations are causing strife between the locals and the lions. Janis links up with wildlife biologist Bart George on a new study that aims to determine if hazing, or negative human interaction, can cause mountain lions to avoid people and their property.

On this episode, Janis is joined by world class elk callers Jason Phelps and Dirk Durham of Phelps Game Calls. The trio head into Montana's backcountry in search of elk on public land. The warm weather makes for difficult hunting, but Janis get's a master's degree in elk calling from the best in the business.

Janis brings it back to his roots and heads to Wisconsin with his dad and brother to hunt whitetail. On this self-filmed hunt, Janis takes advantage of less scent and movement to sit over a scrape and wait for a big buck. The rut is in full swing, and with cooler temperatures keeping the action alive, a beautiful Wisconsin whitetail sneaks up right underneath Janis's stand.

On this episode, Janis is joined by his friend Rue Mapp, Founder and CEO of Outdoor Afro, for an early season turkey hunt in California. Rue takes Janis to her old childhood stomping grounds for an opportunity to see where it all began and what inspired her to live a life of outdoor adventures.
