A retrospective on the originators of epic doom metal, Candlemass. Join me on a deep dive into the Swedish metal band from their early days at Nemesis to their most recent 2022 album. Led by founding member bassist Leif Edling, Candlemass has maintained an impressively stable lineup, except for the vocalist position which has been filled by six different singers. The most recognized is perhaps Messiah Marcolin, the monk-outfitted frontman from their '80s music videos and, ultimately, four albums. A huge influence on doom metal and a classic band in their own right, Candlemass has some awesome stuff throughout their career. So, let's check it out!
