Deception: World War II

World War II begins with a deception at a Polish radio station. During the early years of the war, bluffing was in its infancy: code-cracking, glamorous spies, fake bombing sites, and even inflatable tanks.

In 1942, the deception becomes extremely sophisticated. Entire American arms factories are disguised as cities, double agents manipulate the enemy, but the most cunning operation is to use a deceased homeless man to deceive the entire Nazi leadership about the invasion of Normandy.

Technology is used to deceive the enemy. Radio and transmitters broadcast false information. A phantom army deceives the entire enemy forces using sound effects.

While the war is clearly on the side of the Allies, both sides are still using subterfuge to trap the other. In the post-war era, the United States and the Soviet Union begin a deadly spy game in the race for atomic supremacy.
