Dakar Rally

The 40th edition of the Dakar Rally is held in South America, revisiting the Pacific Ocean and the dunes of Peru. Coverage of Stage 1 sees competitors plunge from the outset into the sands in a 272 kilometer ride from Lima to Pisco.

Stage 2 of the Dakar Rally 2018 sees riders on the Pisco loop, 90 percent off-piste. The 278 kilometer route has no bike tracks, and the canyons of the first 40 kilometers of the special stage won't make for an easy ride.

Stage 3 of the Dakar Rally 2018 sees bikes and quads leave the main route for a 15 kilometer detour from Pisco to San Juan De Marcona.

Stage 4 of the Dakar Rally 2018 sees drivers tackle one of the longest ever sandy sections in the history of the Dakar: a total of 100 km, with dunes of all sizes throughout San Juan de Marcona.

Stage 5 of the Dakar Rally 2018, from San Juan de Marcona to Arequipa sees bikes and quads take a separate route. The race starts at daybreak and follows two different sections of special stage.

Stage 6 of the Dakar Rally 2018. from Arequipa to La Paz, sees the riders leave Peru and the desert to take on the mountains.

Competitors enjoy a rest day in La Paz, Bolivia.

Stage 7 of the Dakar Rally 2018 sees competitors cross the border from La Paz to Uyuni.

Stage 8 of the Dakar Rally 2018 is a marathon stage, which includes the longest special stage of the rally, covering nearly 500 kilometres.

Stage 9 sees the cancellation of racing between Tupiza and Salta as heavy rains caused rivers to overflow.

Stage 10 of the Dakar Rally 2018 takes competitors from Salta to Belen.

Stage 11 of the Dakar Rally 2018 sees competitors travel through Belen to Chilecito. It's one of the toughest spots in Argentina, and the place where a good racer will be able to shine.
