September 17, 1864. In New York City's notoriously crooked Five Points neighborhood, Irish-American Detective Kevin Corcoran of the New York City Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth Precinct finds himself investigating the murder of a young girl that hits uncomfortably close to home. Along with Detectives Francis Maguire and Andrew O'Brien, they navigate the slums of Five Points and the mansions of Uptown to search for the child's killer. Assisted by Dr. Freeman's modern scientific methods of deduction, Corcoran tracks down the killer.

September 21, 1864. A person from Detective Corcoran's past may have information about the loss of his family. When the man after Annie sends in Pinkerton men, Corcoran devises a plan for her safety. Uptown, Morehouse helps his father in his desire to purchase the entire Five Points.

September 26, 1864. An Irishman is found lynched and racial tensions explode within Five Points. When the evidence leans towards a black pastor as the murderer, the people of New York press for a hanging. Having his doubts, Cocoran re-examines the evidence piece by piece. Seeing an opportunity to take advantage as the city panics, the Morehouse family starts looking at new parcels of land to buy in Five Points. Eva Heissen suddenly becomes the key in the search for Corcoran's missing wife.

October 2, 1864. Corcoran discovers clues about his daughter's death and his wife's disappearance, and he learns the new evidence is linked to the murder of a woman in Five Points. Doctor Freeman must deal with personal challenges involving his ex-boxer uncle.

October 11, 1864. Maguire and O'Brien discover a gang's plan to rob the patrons at an upscale fundraiser. It's up to Corcoran to insure the guests' safety without interfering with Norbert Morehouse and Elizabeth Haverford. O'Brien and Corcoran are taken aback when Maguire lets them know about a life-changing decision he's made. Marcus trains Jasper for an exhibition fight against "Irish" Jake McGinnis, but it's apparent to Matthew that Marcus is only concerned with how it benefits himself.

October 16, 1864. A double murder keeps Corcoran and O'Brien busy which, as they sift through the evidence, looks like a case of revenge. With tensions high, the citizens of Five Points assemble to watch the exhibition fight between Jasper and "Irish" Jake. There's a lot riding on the fight and Robert Morehouse will be forced to make a serious decision. As Annie continues on her path to try Elizabeth's patience, there may be only one choice to reform the wayward child.

October 18, 1864. Corcoran reassesses the decisions he's made about Annie while high-society people from outside the city present Morehouse with a one of a kind opportunity. As he evaluates this new investment proposal, he must facilitate some personal conflicts. Detective O'Brien's wife presses him about the rumor that New York City is in danger.

November 8, 1864. It's Election Day and New York City has another murder. But when Detective Maguire takes the law into his own hands, he forces Corcoran into a difficult decision. In Carmansville, Doctor Freeman strives to take care of Sara and uphold his medical practice at the same time. Robert Morehouse's latest business partners are more alarming than he expected and a series of decisions he must make could have a sweeping impact for his family and others.

November 24, 1864. It's Thanksgiving Day but the fallout from the recent murders and a shocking find have Corcoran struggling to keep it together. Robert Morehouse must act quickly to keep his father out of his latest business entanglements.

November 25, 1864. Corcoran throws in with Robert Morehouse, Eva and the Sixth Precinct coppers as he prepares for his biggest fight since the Draft Riots. Doctor Freeman must make a tough decision after Sara places their family at risk. When Robert learns what his father is really involved in as pertains to his new business associates, he turns to Corcoran, the only person he can completely trust. The worlds of uptown and downtown New York City will collide with volatile consequences for New York City and the course of the Civil War.
