The starting signal for the 4000 km ultrarace from Italy to the North Cape is given. The participants set off in the rain, still in a group, but soon the field thins out. Step by step, I find my rhythm, overtake the first riders, master the Brenner Pass, and reach Innsbruck. More showers and a tough climb challenge me before day 1 ends.

I start day 2 soaking wet in the rain, leaving Italy and Austria behind me and reaching Germany. The first checkpoint and stamp await me in Munich before I head through hills and into a golden sunset. Day 3 brings early deliberations about the route choice, a detour to Czechia, more rain, and cheering spectators on the side of the road.

Day 4 begins in pouring rain, but between forests and villages I experience my first emotional moment: tears of joy and deep gratitude. Checkpoint 2 awaits in Berlin, shortly followed by my first defect. The first night in the tent is coming up, I repair my tubes and set off for the ferry the next day.

Day eight brings exciting news for Fritz's next ultra race – new motivation, despite rain and more mechanical issues. A plate of pasta provides sustenance, but persistent tube problems cost time and fray nerves. The next day brings sunshine, climbs, and a magnificent sunset before the stage ends in the tent.

After a damp night in the tent, Fritz starts the day exhausted, until confused soliloquies release new energy. A long construction site causes a new defect and further rain showers sap his strength. The next morning, he continues on his way, soaked to the skin but fighting on. But then a magical moment: the first reindeer at the side of the road, before another cloudburst completely exhausts Fritz.

In the sunshine, Fritz continues toward the North Cape, singing a song he wrote himself and dealing with rear wheel problems. At the Finnish border, he suddenly experiences a very emotional moment—tears flow, honest and liberating. At checkpoint four, the Arctic Circle, he is greeted by glorious weather. Carried by the endless sunset, Fritz rides 400 km in one go for the first time, proud until late into the night before the tent calls.

Day six begins in Sweden: Together with other riders, the field rolls off the ferry, but Fritz is soon alone again. Sunshine instead of rain brings ease, many kilometers, and a relaxed evening at the campsite. The next day, showers and a violent rainstorm bring new challenges—Fritz rides deep into the night before exhaustion stops him.

Shivering after only three hours of sleep, Fritz starts the last leg of his journey feeling weak. Rain, cold, and fatigue accompany him all the way to Norway. A short nap gives him new energy, then the ice-cold North Cape Tunnel takes him under the sea. The final climbs demand everything he has, but finally Fritz reaches the globe at North Cape—his destination—exhausted and overjoyed.
