Dreaming Whilst Black

We meet Kwabena working as a runner on a big film set, where he's the only person of colour, and no one seems to be able to pronounce his name correctly.

This episode is a farcical analogy of what it takes for different races and genders to make it in the film industry. In the end, Kwabena gets a job promotion that isn't quite what he expected.

After hitting a new low of doing the most demoralising job on set, Kwabena meets up with his non-film friends who are financially doing well. He struggles to find motivation to keep going.

At the usual Sunday dinner with Kwabena's family, the older generation are not too pleased about his decision to be a "filmmaker."

Kwabena and his friends meet up to chill after work and tell stories about their terrible Tinder dating experiences. His friend brings a co-worker, who sparks Kwabena's interest.

Kwabena begins a fresh relationship with Vanessa but is struggling to stay focused on preproduction for his film. His producer, Amy, asks him where his priorities lie.

Kwabena switches his focus to making his film and his relationship begins to suffer. Vanessa gives him an ultimatum

Kwabena is in the middle of shooting his short film when, for some reason, everything begins to prevent him from getting a particular take.

Kwabena’s film is finished; however, no financial or festival success has come of it. Kwabena reflects on his experiences and ponders his future.
