Just outside Ripley, Derbyshire, officers head to a set of roadworks following a tip-off that a driver is suspected of regularly driving to and from his place of work under the influence of drink. When they arrive, they arrest a workman who is not only aggressive and appears to be drunk, but is wanted for being in breach of a court order, so is taken into custody. Police also tackle a surge in thefts from lorries, boxing in and intercepting a couple of known offenders with a history of burglary

With roads busier on a bank holiday weekend, Derbyshire officers deal with hundreds of reports of drink, drug and dangerous driving, as well as an array of other crimes. Police also take part in Operation Limit, a road safety campaign to clamp down on drink and drug driving, arresting a trainee truck driver who has crashed into a friend's car

Offices go in pursuit of a banned drink-driver who collides with a passing car before taking off again only to crash into someone's garden after a further chase. Near Derby, officers respond to a report of a ram raid and hunt down a suspected stolen van, with the driver arrested for a stack of other offences, including driving the van illegally and possession of drugs

A high-speed pursuit for a traffic officer is risky business, with 'drivers failing to stop' causing around 40 deaths a year on Britain's roads. Police across the UK are involved in nearly 13,000 pursuits every year as suspected criminals try everything they can to evade capture. In this episode, a dangerous driver fails to stop for officers for more than 45 minutes. The driver eventually goes off road and three men make a run for it. And officers are forced to engage in the pursuit of a vehicle that has already failed to stop for local police. After losing sight of the car, officers search the area and find the car abandoned and arrest a suspect close.

Dealing with drug users and dealers is a daily challenge for Traffic Cops. With drug offences on the rise and casualties from drug driving having nearly trebled in the last ten years, Derbyshire's Road Crime Team target criminals who supply or deal drugs or drive under the influence of drugs. A driver, who is caught in possession of drugs and suspected of being under the influence of drugs, does everything he can to evade capture including ramming into a police car. Officers also target the suspected trafficking of drugs in a taxi through Derbyshire and Yorkshire and arrest two men and a taxi driver for drug searches and questioning about intelligence linking them to supply of crack cocaine.
