This advanced 1,800 calorie single meal ration has some of the most flavorful and alluring main courses, cookies, and creamy dessert beverages and coffees in any prepackaged shelf stable food ration packs ever made. Pandan Chicken and Rice tastes very much like a ginger lemongrass and is sweet & aromatic. Indonesia means business when it comes down to rations that you'd actually look forward to eating more than once or twice. I need to find more of these as they are some of my personal favorites!

A 1990 Tagesportion 24 Hour & 1996 Survival Ration plus a 1991 small emergency food item at the end of the review. This is the first time these rare rations were filmed in some time - with relatively advanced shelf stable food components in both of the main rations, and the other is an iconic MRE item re-purposed as a very effective last ditch effort type food.. The survival ration has a super neat and modern-esque approach to an old Iron ration from WW1 or WW2. You'll have to stick around to the latter part of the review to see it - it reminds me of the old US Army Emergency Ration in it's utility, except it's more user friendly and versatile.

I replaced all the cans, so this one was restored. 1 million IF-4's were produced in 1950. I wonder how many remain? This is one of the last.

Produced in Spain & issued to a military that will remain un-named for now, but if you look into it, you'll find out who uses it. This massive ration is full of a variety of small components - Jomipsa produces for over a dozen different countries now, and this one is a real multi-purpose ration. With three variants - this is the Western version. Which means it has more Americanized type-foods and pork.

A rare historical time capsule with a fantastic variety of components. Never before released footage (filmed in 2019) and finally restored in editing to the best of my ability. It had some sound issues and I recently figured out how to fix them. This was an effective and pioneering emergency ration - it had better variety than say a Canadian or British Emergency Ration - and most certainly it's better than the US Army Field Ration D in terms of morale boosting components and even tea with sugar. That could make all the difference if it was all you had left.

The long awaited return of a truly gourmet shelf stable retort pouch of Italian food - with a variety of completely out of place side items for the most part. A true IMP if you ask me. Those chocolate protein bars are absolutely amazing, and the raspberry jam finally got rid of the seeds - and let us rejoice as the sweet peanutbutter from Canada has finally returned as well.

With squeeze pack main courses, gourmet shelf stable sandwiches and wraps, the most delicious instant coffee, protein pudding, and a slew of snacks, this ration is like a luxury variant of the US FSR. Originally called RFC, or Special Combat Ration, this thing used to be in a light tan larger ziploc style outer pack. That thing made it easy for the components to shift, causing possible tears or punctures. This tight pack on the new style packaging is more efficient and prevents damage to the food inside. This is one of my personal favorite combat rations ever produced.

With the richest & ripest dates, high quality retort pouched main courses including fava beans, and ajwain cookies that pair perfectly with black tea, this ration also features a mini stove and several flameless ration heaters to ensure hot meals. It's very well equipped and high quality - one of the best in the world!

A perfectly preserved example from 2009. This replaced the veggie omelet MRE & it was an instant hit with the troops who ate it out in the field. This was another year before it replaced the scone with maple muffin top - a very rare ration with only 1 year production time with this unusual menu lineup. The maple patty was totally different back then - this was filmed in 2019. Only just recently had I figured out how to repair a certain sound error on older videos like this one - I'd also lost the first 10 seconds of this review stating it's a US MRE - it jumps right into "And this one, etc" - which works well enough! I never found another 2009 maple patty in this good of condition. A 10 year old ration at the time, 6 years later after filming - this one is finally out there! A true gem of a review with really cool preserved shelf stable food of the pioneering kind - a fascinating transitional breakfast menu that led to what we have today for Maple Sausage Patty.

Also featuring another menu at the end of the video: Royal Thai Wolfish - produced in 2008, a tad newer than the 2006 Wolfish Casserole as the main presentation. These are above and beyond quality menus, and much like Reindeer Casserole or the French Ostrich with Cranberries, this was an expensive ration that was eventually replaced with lower cost mains. Part of the FR-2000 series 24 hour ration, this is just the dinner unit. A full 24hr ration presentation of the FR-2000 will be shown sometime in the future.

Produced for about 20 years, and hardly ever used due to it's high water requirement, this ration was still extremely advanced for the era. A nitrogen flushed key open main can and the secondary supplemental can - making for a large and somewhat complicated survival food packet. We check out two of them in this video - stay tuned until the end because all preparation methods for the meat pemmican bar are utilized.

An early 71-74 produced prototype that stood the test of time in more ways than one. This rare and expensive gem of shelf stable food history is finally getting documented and shared - using an absolutely fascinating older design on retort pouch technology. It was so ahead of it's time - and for one to last out this long in such fantastic condition is one to remember. *Correction - the retort pouch won the Food Technology Industrial Achievement Award in 1978 not Nobel in 75.

With shelf stable hotdogs, a delectable beef stew, mandioca powder with rice, and more - this ration really serves up a fantastic variety of snacks and coffee as well. The little stove is especially useful and I would like to find more of those little jelly candy drops as they were absolutely worth trying out again. What an experience!

Another gourmet shelf stable food masterpiece from France, and this time the pork tastes like veal and the dessert is absolutely decadent. Make sure to have some snacks ready when watching this because it's one to behold.

This is an advanced package of shelf stable food that has utility and impressive palatability & nutritional value. Spain's newest combat ration features a high tech tactical mashed potato bowl that is bound to make you hungry. This thing is outrageously delicious to a point that will surely make you want to figure out how to sign up for the Spanish Armed Forces so you can try one out! This is one of the most desirable combat rations ever made. It's effective utility, palatability, menu variation, toughness of packaging & condition made it one of the best shelf stable meals that I've checked out yet. It's right on par with a US MRE or Canadian IMP or one of those French RCIR or RIERs. No joke, this thing is seriously awesome and I hope to get more again someday. That main course seriously tasted cafeteria fresh.
