The investigation into the "School Animal Mutilation" case focuses on the young girl who first found the animal, Haruna Sawai. After she disappears, Izumi and Tsukamoto track her to the site of the next predicted attack. When Tsukamoto tries to apprehend her, she injures him with a knife and flees. Later, Haruna is found and brought in for questioning, where she asks Izumi a chilling question: "If I kill an animal, will I get the death penalty?"
