Hearts last faced the Dons in the Scottish Cup in 2010, with Aberdeen winning 2-0 at Pittodrie. The game is also nine years since the last time they met at Tynecastle in the cup. Hearts were 3-0 winners that day and went on to lift the trophy following a penalty shoot-out win over Gretna. This season, Aberdeen enjoyed a convincing 3-1 league victory in Edinburgh in September 2015, and the two sides met again in December with Aberdeen winning 1-0 at home courtesy of an Adam Rooney penalty.
