Funeral home assistant Tan Choon Lim dreams of “FIRE” – Financial Independence, Retire Early. His hopes seem unlikely until he steals a magical lighter that transports him to 1930 Singapore, where he stumbles into the Sea View Hotel and meets a beautiful Soon Kim. Back in 2025, a furious Kayla Kang discovers his theft and enlists the righteous Detective Ang to seek justice.

After helping a young Lim Bo Seng with mutinous subordinates, Choon Lim aids him in probing a theft at his family’s brick factory. Meanwhile, Kayla has discovered Choon Lim’s secret plan – not only is he time-travelling, he’s pawning off antiques brought from the past. A confrontation between Choon Lim and Detective Ang reveals intimate details of Ang’s past and leaves him feeling humiliated and furious.

Choon Lim races to reset Zubir (and history) on the correct path by helping to set up a second audition with the City Opera bangsawan troupe. Meanwhile, Soon Kim deals with her father’s expectations of her and Detective Ang goes to the home of Chen Guo Qiang, the deceased old man that Choon Lim stole the lighter from, making a startling discovery in the process.

When Choon Lim reveals that a young, beautiful artist named Georgette Chen is staying at the Sea View Hotel, Kayla pleads with him to let her travel back in time too. After learning that Detective Ang is continuing to investigate him and his uncle’s business, Choon Lim tries to make amends, but to no avail.

When Choon Lim realizes that his past actions have accidentally affected the course of Yusof Ishak’s life, he travels back to 1930 to fix Yusof’s fate. In 2025, Kayla’s family circumstances lead her to befriend a new patron at the Thai disco.

Choon Lim finds out that Yusof’s upcoming fight with Undying Tiger (a result of Choon Lim’s meddling) will cause his death, and does everything to save the future president of Singapore. Meanwhile, the Ghee Hin Triad is alerted to a ‘superman’ that saved Soon Kim from Ah Gui…

Choon Lim is hauled into the Ghee Hin Triad stronghold and comes face to face with Ah Gui once again. He also meets Zhu Xu, a young teacher who is trying to prevent his student from joining the Ghee Hin Triad. Kayla and Boon Keong’s friendship deepens, which alarms her ill younger sister.

Both Choon Lim and Kayla are summoned to the police station for questioning, but a viral video painting Detective Ang in a bad light secures their release., Kayla receives a job offer from Boon Keong and ends her business arrangement with Choon Lim, only for things to go disastrously wrong…

In an effort to find a young Lee Kuan Yew in 1930, Choon Lim and Soon Kim meet his aunt, Dr Lee Choo Neo, who is Singapore’s first female doctor. Choon Lim is also promoted to Head Concierge at the Sea View Hotel.

As Choon Lim’s 2025 life begins to suffer, he retreats to 1930 for solace. Jimmy, Choon Lim’s rival at the Sea View Hotel, discovers information about Choon Lim which endangers the latter with the Ghee Hin Triad. Soon Kim’s worldview begins to expand as she helps Dr Lee in her clinic.

Choon Lim seeks out Aw Boon Haw in 1930, only to find him in a furious argument with Tan Kah Kee. Soon Kim boldly invites Choon Lim out, but thugs from the Ghee Hin Triad thwart their romantic meal. In 2025, Choon Lim and Kayla soon make a shocking discovery in Chen Guo Xiang’s house.
