Winnie Young has a face that is familiar to the average local TV audience. She started out in the local showbiz in 1995 as a beauty pageant contestant; she worked as TV show MC / host, and appeared in various TV dramas as the female lead. However, in order to take better care of her growing kids, she bowed out of showbiz. Out of the spotlight, she still managed to launch another profession and continue to lead a dazzlingly enriching life.
Winnie grew up in the United States. At college, she majored in Journalism. After graduation, Winnie signed up for a beauty pageant, hoping to pursue a career in the TV station as a news reporter. Finally she won the pageant, only to attract media spotlight that compelled her into showbiz. A bit reluctant as she was, Winnie nevertheless did her duties the best she could, to avoid her colleagues working overtime because of her. As she recalls, “It was quite daring for me [to join showbiz] at that time, as I, not too well versed in Chinese, was doing a job that required good Chinese skills.
Finally, the burden of family made her bid farewell to showbiz. Entering motherhood, she continued to “do her best”; that’s why she insisted on studying Child Education and Psychology even as a busy mother, all because she wanted to give her kids a better upbringing. While doing further studies, she discovered her interest in education. With the encourage and support of Miss Lili Tsang, principal [of a ballet school] and someone to whom she had been indebted so much, Winnie launched her teaching career, starting out as an etiquette instructor. Now she has opened her education centre and kindergarten, venturing into the career of an educator.
Winnie has never tried to shape her own future, and yet whatever task is presented before her, she will always try her best, for her own good as well as for the good of those around her. Maybe this is the driving force behind her next target: to open her own primary school in the near future, so that
