Andreas and his sons test their Dredge in a German gravel plant. Can the machine suck up material underwater and wash the gold out of the ground? Quicksand makes the test run a treacherous undertaking. Meanwhile, Mat and Rhien stock up on fuel in Australia. The brothers load their off-road vehicles and trailers Down Under with 4,000 liters of diesel in canisters. But on the inclines in the mountains, the heavily loaded vehicles reach their limits despite their four-wheel drive. The duo has to improvise along the way.

Andreas is back on the goldfields in the state of Queensland. During the Covid pandemic, all the off-road vehicle rental companies have greatly reduced their offerings, so the German adventurer unceremoniously buys a car from Mat's old neighbor Bob. Will the car survive the test drive to the camp on the Palmer River? Last year, Andreas had won a bet against his Australian buddy. He had finished a barn on his farm faster than Mat had finished his car wash. And now Andreas wants to inspect his winnings Down Under.

Andreas and his son Tobi visit a gold digger buddy at the Yukon in Canada. Jörg leases claims in North America. At home in Germany, Andreas also has a real challenge waiting for him. The adventurer wants to ship his floating washing plant down under. Will the huge dredge fit into the overseas container? Meanwhile, Mat and his brother Rhien are repairing a water pump from the 1950s on the Palmer River. Spare parts are no longer available, everything has to be welded by hand. Can the duo get the machine running again?

Greg pulls his car wash onto Mat's land with a heavy excavator. The men have negotiated a deal. They form a team in the treasure hunt. They plan to share the profits down under. But does the land yield enough precious metal to justify the effort? And then suddenly a helicopter approaches the camp. The surprise is great when Matthias Maurer steps out of the helicopter. Mat and Andreas had given the German astronaut a nugget as a good luck charm on his way to the ISS space station.

Matthias Maurer pays a surprise visit to the treasure hunters at Palmer River in northern Queensland. There, Andreas shows the ESA astronaut the equipment the men use in the Australian bush to examine the precious metal content in the soil. The next morning, a classic gold miner's breakfast is served: burnt toast with beans. The adventurers also have to solve a problem, because both trucks in the camp are not roadworthy. To keep things running, Mat proposes a deal to his neighbor Greg down under.

Matthias Maurer has caught gold fever in Australia. The ESA astronaut supports Mat and Andreas in their search for fat nuggets down under. But the men don't always get a hit when the metal detector emits an acoustic signal. On the contrary: very often there is only a horseshoe or an old shovel buried in the ground. The yield so far leaves much to be desired, so the men want to try their luck the next day in a region that is difficult to access. Even getting to the Sandstones is a challenge.

The team was successful in its treasure hunt. With the nuggets, Mat can pay the rent for the monster truck in Down Under, which his gold-digger neighbor Greg uses to transport the prospecting goods. Now the adventurers have tasted blood. Andreas and Mat's brother Rhien set off once again for the Sandstones to track down precious metal. But then things suddenly take a fatal turn. Greg's car wash goes on strike and the spare parts have to be shipped in from Malaysia. This takes forever and throws all the men's plans out of whack.

The wash stand is ready for operation. Andreas' sons can get to work. A Canadian treasure hunter also gets involved in the "Gold in Germany" project. Meanwhile, Mat is struggling with his fate in Australia. First the drum gives up the ghost and now the excavator is on strike. The adventurer's ambitious plans threaten to go up in smoke at the Palmer River. And that's not all: after several weeks of hard work down under, Mat's brother Rhien and Andreas claim their share of the precious metal.
