In the winter of 1936, Ebata Takimasa returns from the Navy to finally spend his wedding night with his wife, Natsumi. He arrives home with his colleague Fukami, bringing ohagi as a gift. However, Natsumi is out shopping, and instead he is greeted by her sisters: Harue, Akina, and the youngest, Fuyuko. The sisters, suspicious about why the marriage has not yet been consummated, begin questioning him. Distracted by Fuyuko’s gesture, Takimasa gives odd replies, deepening their doubts, while Fukami watches and tries to ease the tension.
