The 1963 murder of researcher Janice Wylie and schoolteacher Emily Hoffert in their apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York. Both graduates in their early twenties, they were raped and their bodies left in a mutilated condition. George Whitmore Jr was convicted of the crime, but later found to be innocent before Ricky Robles - the true killer - was identified.
