If you ask us, there’s no challenge quite as big as the Vic High Country in late winter. The rivers are running, there’s snow on the peaks, and even an inch of rain turns incredibly steep clay and rock hill climbs into a dangerous, boggy mess. The Old Tele Track is the most iconic 4WD track in Oz, but that doesn’t mean that your Cape York adventure finishes at the Jardine! In this episode of 4WD Action, Graham and Shaun prove that there’s a whole lot more to the Cape than just the Tele Track. They’ve found the most insane tracks north of the Jardine Ferry – from mud, ruts, gnarly hill climbs and some of the softest and most pristine beaches in the country, these are the tracks and campsites that only the locals know about! From tough 4WDing, some of the best fishing anywhere and a couple of the most stunning campsites in Queensland, this is the secret Cape York hotspot that we guarantee you won’t wanna miss!

Five years ago in one of Graham’s first ever DVDs with 4WD Action he attempted to drive from Home Valley in the east Kimberley north to Kalumburu via one of the most remote tracks in Australia. It was early in the season after a late wet and that track almost beat them. They only made it a tenth of the way and had to bail on the track at Oombulgurri and catch the ferry out. Five years in the making, Graham, Shauno, Rod, Ronny and Col head back to the Kimberley to make it all the way. By hell or high water they are determined to finish what they started in what is one of the most remote and unforgiving landscapes in the country. You make a mistake out here or breakdown and you may as well say goodbye to your 4WD because help is at least a week away. The boys will have to travel over 700km in low range across some of the toughest terrains the Top End can throw at them. Will they make it or will they have to bail out again? Nothing describes Australia quite like the Kimberley, an ancient land in the northernmost point of Western Australia. Bordering the Timor Sea, the Great Sandy, and Tanami Deserts, The Kimberley is one of the earliest settled parts of Australia, with the first arrivals landing about 41,000 years ago (back when it was originally part of Indonesia).

In this episode of 4WD Action DVD, we travel from Oombulgurri – one of the most remote communities on earth, to McGowans Island, which is even further into the unknown. Forgotten for years, re-opened by us - 50km in 4 days! Imagine being handed the keys to a track by the traditional owners, and being told "See if you blokes can make it through!". That's the challenge we're up against on this issue of 4WD Action, as we attempt to re-open the track from Coen to Stoney Creek on the Cape's wild east coast. The traditional owners said that they hoped we packed plenty of recovery gear because it was going to get one heck of a workout! In fact, they weren't even sure that we'd make it to the coast at all - the track was that tough. To make things harder, Shauno's also towing a trailer with Ray's turbocharged 1000 cc buggy, because something tells us they're gonna need it! We went down the West Coast of Tasmania to tackle one of the hardest tracks Tassie has to offer - Thousand Buck Track. They reckon most vehicles will do at least $1000 worth of damage when tackling this track. With Fallen trees, bog holes and massive rutts, this was one unforgettable adventure that pushed everyone on the team to their absolute limits!!

We hope you've got your recovery kit ready because in this episode, Shaun , Graham and the boys bite off more than they can chew when they tackle some of NSW's muddiest, most fun tracks. Along for the ride we've got big GUs and GQs on 35s and a twin-locked V8 Cruiser, but even those are no match for the slipperiest, steepest tracks of the Great Divide.
