Four years ago, at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, snowboard star Bibian Mentel won gold in the snowboard cross section. A year later, in La Molina, Spain, she became world champion in snowboard cross and banked slalom. A feat she repeated at the 2017 World Cup in Canada's Big White. This year, in Pyeongchang, she wants to extend her Paralympic title. Shortly after Sochi, Mentel decided to allow NOS cameras into her life. The result is this documentary, which will be broadcast on the first day of the Paralympic Games: a four-year record of highs and lows, of trial and error.

Never before has the Netherlands performed so well at the Paralympic Winter Games as in the 2018 edition, in Pyeongchang in South Korea: three times gold, three times silver and one time bronze. Good for tenth place in the medal standings. Snowboard star Bibian Mentel won two gold medals. Herman van der Zandt looks back on the highlights and talks with Mentel, of whom - due to her illness - was unsure until the very last moment whether she could participate.

Yesterday Bibian Mentel, two-time Paralympic champion and a source of inspiration for many people, passed away. NOS reporter Edwin Peek followed her for more than six years during the Paralympic Games and in her battle against recurring cancer.
