Kuma receives orders from the World Government to kill everyone on Thriller Bark in order to cover up Moriah's defeat.

Kuma proves his power by easily shrugging off Zoro and Snaji's attacks. He then promises to spare everyone if they give him something that will cost them the rest of their journey.

Zoro tries to fight for Luffy since he lies helplessly on the ground. Through Zoro's efforts, Kuma offers a deal to him that could end his life. Will Zoro come out of this situation alive?

The next day, the Straw Hats celebrate their victory over Moria, but do not know why Zoro is so badly wounded. Luffy then tells Brook something that could make his 50 years of loneliness worth it.

Brook recalls his past, when the whale Laboon started following his pirate ship and befriended the crew. This is a tale of a small whale and a band of pirates.

Brook continues to tell the tale of the Rumbar Pirates' fateful journey into the Grand Line, and the decision he made at the end of his original life.

Brook pledges himself to the Straw Hat Pirates, becoming their ninth member, as the crew settles their affairs at Thriller Bark and continue their journey.
