Today (ITV, 12.30, except for ATV, which transmits it next Monday) sees the last of Peter Fiddick's highly entertaining, if occasionally dazzling essays about the people on, and behind, the glass-fronted box in front of which most of us spend far too much time. With the race now on for the ITV franchises, Mr Fiddick devotes the whole of his valedictory programme to the ways in which the contenders for contracts set about their cliffhanging business.
