However, there are three other mountain ranges that owe their names to the first European Explorers, one in the Northern and two in the Southern Hemisphere. The European and Japanese Alps are almost identical worlds yet the Australian and the Southern Alps of New Zealand couldn't be more different. NASA has taken the lead in designing the new space exploration vehicle, Orion, with which man will go back to the Moon; go on to Mars, and beyond.
