Real Life in the Zoo

We see the tension rise as a new male is introduced to the group of ring-tailed lemurs. The young archerfish receive shooting lessons from the older ones, and giant pandas Xing Ya and Wu Wen embark on an adventure that will hopefully lead to mating and... baby pandas.

We follow the adventure of the African elephant Tooth as he takes his first steps as a breeding bull. The deeply traumatized brown bears Keta and Maria slowly learn what it means to live carefree as bears in the bear forest. And how will things turn out with the icy truce among the ring-tailed lemurs?

We explore the world of the poison dart frog, which has a very unique way of reproducing. The red river hogs boldly compete for food with their much larger neighbors, the African elephants. And at night, male clouded leopard Rama and female Hyma suddenly show much more interest in each other than before.

Brown bear Dadon returns from his CT scan. The results will determine whether he can be woken up from his anesthesia and return to his beloved bear forest. Giant tortoise Mien is restless — she’s looking for a place to bury her eggs. And clouded leopard Hyma is pregnant. With a first litter, things often go wrong due to inexperience. The cubs will only have a chance of survival if Hyma’s maternal instincts are strong enough.

A romance blossoms between orangutans Bako and Tjintah. Penguins Snavel and Opa are given new challenges to encourage more exercise. Siberian tiger Colina suddenly loses her appetite — a worrying sign. And as winter arrives in the park, the brown bears retreat into their dens, while the giant pandas are having the time of their lives in the snow.

We see how roloway monkey Akua enters her toddler tantrum phase. She terrorizes her fellow monkeys, but the meerkats suffer the most. There’s a new addition to the orangutan family as Tjintah gives birth to her fourth baby. And will there also be young for the giant pandas? Female Wu Wen is fertile — for at most three days, and only once a year. So it’s time for male Xing Ya to spring into action.
