The test firing of a British missile ends in disaster. Is there a link to a schoolboy who is a genius at subatomic physics? And how is the mysterious Mr Doll involved?

Following a second disastrous missile firing, Andy becomes suspicious of the Icarus Foundation. Martin grows uneasy about what is going on at Falconleigh School.

Andy is mysteriously taken off the missile investigation. Martin and Sue begin to realise the full horror of their work.

Mysterious forces prevent Martin and Sue from leaving Falconleigh. Andy arrives at the school and tries to stop Martin continuing his work on the quark bomb.

Martin comes face-to-face with Froelich and must make the most important decision of his life.
